“The Free Label evokes a period, style and genre that was a la mode long before the members of this five-piece ensemble were born. Their youthful zeal and 21st century take on the music they so obviously love is intoxicating and turns heads every time they hit the stage.”
- Mariposa Folk Festival

THE FREE LABEL sound takes the best elements of late night funk sessions, the gospel church, dance music, and delivers it with the earnestness of today's DIY pop band. How did they develop this sound? By working with and learning from a diverse and talented community of world-class artists, musicians, and entrepreneurs.

“The songs are for your pleasure, to be played at a maximum volume at a party or a great summer outdoors gathering. But the key to the music is to have fun and celebrate life.” - Spill Magazine

THE FREE LABEL is currently on their “Here I Go” tour with 25 plus dates travelling across Ontario and Québec and preparing their newest music and next steps. They are planning their 2020 tour across Canada and the United States while continuing to amaze their current fanbase and expand it by reaching out to new communities and spreading that #freelabellove.

THE FREE LABEL are alumni of Canada’s Music Incubator, were featured artists at Youth Day 2017, 2017 Indie Week semi-finalists and were CBC Searchlight Top 100 Artists. In 2018 and 2019 they were selected to play a number of Ontario festivals including two packed Pub Stage shows at the Mariposa Folk Festival, Canadian Music Week, The Beaches Street Festival, Mississauga Light Up the Square, among many others.

In between the 2018-2019 summer season, THE FREE LABEL embarked on a four-month journey around the world performing on luxury cruise lines. This stretch of isolation outside the city gave the boys the opportunity to hone their skills and understand their music on an even deeper level.

“Energetic, electric live performance!”
- Jesse Mitchell

Following in the tradition set by R&B greats, THE FREE LABEL’s quality of music is equally as captivating as their stage presence . Their musical talent, vibrant personalities, and highly energetic live sets bring an unparalleled vibe to any space they perform in. Press, peers, and fans agree that there's something special about the way these guys play music. This something makes dancing optional - yet inevitable - at any show with The Free Label

In summer 2018 THE FREE LABEL released their first single “All Night” which quickly amassed over a quarter million streams on Spotify alone. Their second release, was the trap-influenced 21st century love story “Nice” in February 2019 and their first EP "Lift You Up" followed in April. The production of these songs was graciously funded in part by the Arts Council of Toronto. The summer of 2019 saw the release of two remixes of "All Night" by Toronto legend Jed Harper and the UK's Tempo Elektrik.
